The South

I am grateful to a Mother India that has accepted me and my beliefs
with no bias or reservations,
providing me the opportunity to abound in its endless wealth.

My very makeup today is shaped by the influence of
the Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains, Christians and Parsis that were around me
I find it hard to believe that the worlds oldest religion
that influenced so many great religions to follow in its wake,
is now fighting for its own survival.

The bickering, infighting, intolerance, corruption and close-mindness
is setting the stage for our final act, the last HOORAH!!!

I am not very religious and can barely recite any prayers.
When I used to pray it seemed like I was not conversing with Auhra Mazda
but reciting a ton of words that made no sense.

I am proud to be a Zorastrian,
but with it comes from a very unique mixture
of the past and present.

I am proud to belong to a religion that bases its very teachings
on 3 simple sentences: Good thoughts, Good words and Good deeds.

When I see a Parsi walk by me, with their sudra and kusti showing,
or the women with their tell tale sarees falling over their shoulders,
or the children speaking the typical Parsi Gujrati,
I smile and realise they are all connected with me.
